Fashion Film: Okada Man
‘I like Gucci, Off-White, Supreme, Savage. That’s all’, states Nigerian biker M-Prince. Fashion is an important symbol of identity and status for him and fellow Okada men, who are known for traversing the streets of West Africa on motorbikes and looking dapper in the process.
This short film follows in Nigerian-American artist and director Justice Nnann’s spirit of visually investigating the contemporary human experience through the exploration of globalisation’s cross-cultural impact. Highlighting the influence of Western fashion and branding on Nigerian culture, this new film also upholds Nnanna’s other motivation, of connecting the African Diaspora through works that aim to expand our understanding of experiences within different cultural and social groups.
