Nine chosen artists reveal the creative projects they're working on in 2021.

What projects are you working on in 2021?

Britt Lloyd contribute.to/brittlloyd

I will start by photographing a series of the back of men's heads in my studio, and then focus on bringing together nature and the male form in a set of images.

Drag Syndrome contribute.to/dragsyndrome

We are preparing for a world tour in 2021, the release of a documentary film and a couple of collaborations with renowned artists.

Fecal Matter contribute.to/fecalmatter

Like many of our peers who are independent and express themselves authentically, our main goal is to continue to survive and stay afloat. All of our projects are centred around that goal.

Joseph Häxan contribute.to/josephhaxan

I was pretty interested in further exploring Tolf as a character, so I eventually wrote and am now producing two additional films following him, with the second one, Froglet, currently shooting. I'm always trying to up the ante for myself, so the production of the sequel has additional voice-over and live action actors, which is something new for me as I haven’t really directed in this way before. I’m really enjoying the process of casting and working with others, it’s like selecting people I trust to enter this very private artistic world I’ve worked within for a long time alone. I’m also always working on new images, with my current photographic project being The Rite of Spring, inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s orchestral piece of the same name.

Metta Modernist contribute.to/mettamodernist

The CRTRXHAUS (our art collective) are all hard at work. I’m currently finishing my debut novel BLKKK COCK/BLKKK PUSSY:1984½ a.k.a. THE DESTRUCTIVE INFLUENCES OF THE CRUEL SUPER-EGO (this novel is going to change the world), and has been in the works since 2013. We are also working on the screenplay for the novel, as well as developing our literary and art magazine. There’s so much more in the works, but I’m learning how to build Rome one day at a time.

Mimi Haddon contribute.to/mimihaddon

One of my main goals is to publish a photography book about Palace Costume. I hope to eventually turn this long-term project into a musical or opera. The Palace is filled with stories that are begging to be put into a performance of some sort and I can visualize the gorgeous, exaggerated sets with colourful textiles and oversized garments and over-the-top, fantastical costumes!

Ozabu contribute.to/ozabu

I'm currently drawing commissioned work, and once it's settled, I'd like to start drawing for future shows. I will also work on print release, and creating pieces for the publication of artbook.

Shalva Nikvashvili contribute.to/shalva

2021 is very exciting year. I'm working on a book in collaboration with a performance film festival and a few very interesting exhibitions. Every day I will be working in my atelier.

Sinéad O’Dwyer contribute.to/sineadodwyer

Among other things, an exciting project is in the works with choreographer Grace Nicol @gracebnicol called Slip Mould Slippery, with five dancers. It will tour once live performance is possible again!
