Day 6: Ruba Abu-Nimah

published on 16 June 2020

Creative director Ruba Abu-Nimah guest curated the SHOWstudio Instagram for a week in June 2020. On day 6, she shared the first four films in a series Where did everyone go? documenting New York in a moment of political and cultural change.

Slowly, over time, it transformed: the artists re-emerged, the sounds of birds became more evident and NY was a different city entirely. Where did everyone go? / 1 The first film features Steve Powers painting boarded up shop windows. It is a testament that the death of commerce brings on the rebirth of art. This corner has now become a destination. I still love New York. - Ruba
Where did everyone go? / 2 The second film is in The Bronx and Harlem and the subject prefers to remain anonymous. - Ruba
Where did everyone go? / 3 The third film is filmed in Harlem and Soho with Steve Powers. - Ruba
