Gallery: Still Life & Kate
Still Life & Kate features images that push the boundary between photography and painting, as well as sculptural work that combines experimental techniques such as 3D scanning and printing. All of these works are rooted in Nick Knight's interest in nature and pushing boundaries. To create the still lives, he employs a special type of non-absorbent paper and creates a carefully controlled environment of heat and moisture to allow the ink to flow naturally during printing. Knight then paints and manipulates these compositions into the forms he imagines. His photographic sculpture of Kate Moss, created by printing digital data using a 3D scanner, also drew attention for its introduction of techniques enabling two-dimensional images to be printed in three dimensions.
