Nick Knight

Nick Knight CBE is a fashion image-maker and director of SHOWstudio.
Amongst the world's most influential and visionary photographers, Knight has consistently challenged conventional notions of beauty and is fêted for his groundbreaking creative collaborations with leading designers including Yohji Yamamoto, John Galliano and Alexander McQueen, and advertising campaigns for clients such as Christian Dior, Tom Ford, Lancôme, Swarovski and Yves Saint Laurent.
Consistently at the vanguard of progressive image-making for over four decades, Knight has produced award-winning editorials for publications including W, Vogue, Vogue Italia, British Vogue, Paris Vogue, Vogue Singapore, Dazed & Confused, AnOther, Another Man, Harper's Bazaar and i-D. He also has longstanding and ongoing creative relationships with various musicians, producing award-winning music videos for Björk, Lady Gaga and Kanye West amongst others.
A long-standing commitment to experimenting with the latest technologies led to Knight launch the award-winning fashion website SHOWstudio in 2000. In 2022, he unveiled the digital fashion project ikon-1 with a collection of NFTs featuring photorealistic digital renders of the creative polymath Jazzelle.
Knight's first book of photographs, Skinheads, was published in 1982. He has since released Nicknight (1995), Nick Knight (2009), and Flora. His work has been exhibited at international institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Saatchi Gallery, The Photographers' Gallery, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Hayward Gallery. In 1997, he produced a permanent installation, Plant Power, for the Natural History Museum in London. In 2019-2020, Knight exhibited his first major still life exhibition Roses at Albion Barn, Oxford. In 2022, he was awarded the Master of Photography Prize by Photo London.
Knight was awarded the OBE in 2010 for his services to the arts, and CBE in 2024 for his services to fashion and photography. He is an honorary professor at the University of the Arts London and was awarded an honorary PHD by the same university. In 2022 Knight was awarded the Master of Photography Award by Photo London.
Knight has served as the lead Creative Consultant for two exhibitions at The Metropolitan Museum of Art accompanying their annual Met Gala; first, Punk: Chaos to Couture (2013), and most recently Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion (2024).
