Portraits presents a handful of Nick Knight's portraiture, many of which were commissioned by Terry Jones, editor of i-D magazine, first to celebrate the magazine's fifth anniversary in 1985 and then again relaunched in 2009 to mark I-D magazine's thirtieth anniversary with 200 leading figures, including actors, models, artists, musicians and designers. Across his portraiture, Knight replaced classical techniques with a new creative style that adopted particular expressions, postures and movements to coin each person's singular image. These images got the attention of the fashion world, earning Knight campaigns with some of the most important design houses.
