“I’ll never forget the feeling of wearing my wedding dress for the first time. To get the fit just right I had quite a few fittings with Zac Posen prior to the big day, but there was a very special aspect to the design that would be a surprise to me in the end. Zac had asked my husband James, who is a trained artist, to come up with a motif for the lower part of the dress: it was just a very subtle tone on tone floral of Lilies. It could not be noticed by everyone, but it meant everything to me. I loved that James and Zac so lovingly collaborated on this dress. I never felt more beautiful and more empowered than I did that day when I decided to form a family of my own with my love and partner. After the big day I had the dress specially preserved in a box with the idea that one day, if I ever had a little girl, I’d give it to her. Now 8 years later my husband and I have a an adorable 3 year old named Ioni who asks every week if she can have the dress yet. I tell her she needs to be a bit bigger first, to which she will usually reply, ‘I’m older, I can wear it now mama.’”
