Matthieu Blazy’s love of art knows no bounds. His models have walked among some of the world's greatest pieces, from statues dating back to the 1st century B.C.E. to futurist sculptures by Umberto Boccioni. For those who haven't had the chance to attend his shows, there is a rare opportunity to own original art that any collector would envy thanks to Bottega Veneta’s latest fanzine.
The third and final edition of Blazy’s ‘Italia trilogy’, the limited-edition set of books is dedicated to his A/W 23 collection. Since his debut for Bottega Veneta, Matthieu Blazy has published books dedicated to each show that have been launched in stores. The latest collection celebrates the innovative craftsmanship of the Italian brand, where he showcased an inventive approach to the house's signature Intrecciato technique. Now he is documenting his reimagining of the house’s codes in free Winter 23 Fanzine.
Behind the cover (which features the brand’s signature stracciatella print), the glossy pages showcase the brand’s latest designs next to drawings by British Cypriot designer Hussein Chalayan, commissioned by Blazy. These illustrations are showcased alongside behind-the-scenes photographs of Vieni a Vedere, the site-specific artwork by Italian architect and designer Gaetano Pesce, which was released in the Bottega Veneta Sant’Andrea Milan store. Fluid pencil drawings of mysterious characters and playful collages express the artistry of craftsmanship, revealing a new look of his latest collection through the art of publishing.
Matthieu Blazy is known for his love of blending his collections with the publishing world. In 2022, he commissioned an art book titled 'Come Stai?' by Gaetano Pesce, who designed the show space and seating for his S/S 23 runway show. Blazy then paid tribute to Kate Moss, the star of Bottega Veneta's Summer 23 collection. In 2023, Bottega Veneta supported a new art publishing project called Magma and showed its support for the return of Butt Magazine.
The limited-edition free fanzine will be available from Thursday, 7 September, across all Bottega Veneta stores worldwide.
