For the 15th season, Topman and Fashion East showed their support for emerging menswear designers by presenting MAN - a fashion show featuring the work of three up and coming names in menswear.
Danish Astrid Anderson, a Royal College of Art graduate continues to explore her affinity with technical sportswear. The collection had a luxurious viewpoint with a colour palette of pale yellow, verdigris, and Bordeaux, as fabrics including sheer silk organza, lightweight nylon, faux fur, and silk satin were constructed into body-con basketball shirts, shorts, windbreakers and bomber jackets. A tight well edited collection, Anderson's vision is clear.
Agi and Sam always inject humour to their narrative and this season the duo were inspired by 1970s kitsch and memories of being made to watch rubbish 80's detective programs in their grandparent's front rooms. The resulting collide created whimsical floral and pastel upholstery patterns from the masculine world of Magnum P.I and Miami Vice. A cream short sleeve shirt, trousers with a Hawaiian motif resembling upholstery, and a matching tie was just part of the optimistic collection that exploits the current resurgence in print and pattern.
Finally Shaun Samson explored ideas of teenage angst citing boy's obsessions including cars, tattoos, and body piercing as inspiration. Kurt Cobain-inspired shirts, baggy shorts and kitten print T-shirts provided standout swagger for the finale of the show. Talented casting saw street models adorned with hooped earrings, metal spikes and woolly hats signalling a return to grunge with a new edge. Another strong collection from Samson.
