Oversized pale denim jeans, bulky neoprene and models’ wrapped faces were some of the diverse ideas in Martin Rose’s eccentric collection. The catalyst to these jovial clothes was, according to Rose, rooted in a Bernini sculpture and a fascination with hands that evolved into neoprene prints bonded to work wear fabrics.

Rose explored proportion and size as oversized beached denim was altered to fit the wearer. This new street wear uniform was drenched in orange and blue and paid homage to blue collar workers. Defined by its three-dimensional bulky shoulders and masculine shapes the collection was an evocative exploration into modern menswear.

Innovation is core to Rose’s design aesthetic and this new hardened edge gives the designer another voice in the menswear landscape - what will be tipping point is how well these radical ideals will translate into sales.
