Fashion's inextricable relationship with technology has long been a theme for garment design: perhaps most associated with the space-age aesthetics of Cardin or Courrèges. The current preoccupation treads new ground, however, applying computer-generated prints to formal shapes–as at Balenciaga or Giles Deacon–or using computer-aided cutting or draping techniques, as at Hussein Chalayan, Gucci and Lanvin.
