If there's one thing the holiday season reminds us all of, it’s that there is no place like home. Whether it's visiting family or reconnecting with childhood friends, taking a trip home is often filled with excitement and anticipation. To celebrate the Lunar New Year, Bottega Veneta has enlisted Chinese writer and director Jess Jing Zou to create a fashion film capturing all the emotion that comes with the journey home. With 22 January marking the beginning of the Year Of The Rabbit — a symbol of curiosity, serenity and beauty — ‘Reunion In Motion’ follows a cast of characters as they traverse through picturesque landscapes in China. With its soft lighting and refined crescendo, this sentimental short film is sure to inspire anyone’s wanderlust.
Since Belgian designer Matthieu Blazy made his debut as creative director with his A/W 22 collection, the purveyor of quiet luxury has put emotive storytelling at the core of the Italian heritage brand. Last fall Blazy introduced the Bottega Veneta lifetime warranty program that not only highlights the brand’s dedication to circular sustainability but a reverence for their expert craftsmanship and the foresight for designs to be passed through generations as heirlooms. The brand’s latest campaign, Bottega for Bottegas, also put craft and family at the forefront as they swapped bags and accessories for ice-cream scoops and espresso cups as a way to highlight fourteen artisanal businesses from around the world.
As the cherry on top of their Lunar New Year campaign Bottega Veneta has arranged for a real-world train wrapped in the brand's signature green hue to traverse through China. Keeping in line with Blazy’s sober design ethos and the brand’s long history of minimal branding, the locomotive will be logo-free, instead featuring only the message, ‘On The Roads That Lead Home, Happy New Year’. Foregoing a Lunar New Year capsule collection like many of its contemporaries, this poetic display further highlights the brand's quiet commitment to sustainability, authenticity, and the power fashion has to incite emotion.
