With references that range from 18th courtly dress to an imagined future in space, it’s no secret that Louis Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquière’s biggest inspiration is time itself. So, it was only a matter of time before the maison would unveil a time capsule of some of their most influential designs. Dubbed the LV Remix Collection, the maison reintroduces two of their iconic styles from the early aughts; the Monogram Vernis and Monogram Denim.

When Louis Vuitton unveiled the styles in 2000 and 2005 respectively, it-girls around the globe couldn’t wait to get their hands on the youthful interactions of the brand’s signature monogram. The former, with its glossy Vernis leather in vibrant pops of colour, was at the forefront of style at the turn of the millennium, while the latter’s light-washed, frayed denim design defined the irreverent attitudes of the mid-2000s and was quickly seen on the arms of the era’s it-girls.

It’s only appropriate then that today’s it-girls would front the accompanying campaign. Phoebe Dynevor, Lous & the Yakuza, Shay Mitchell, and Nana Ouyang star in the vibrant campaign shot by Ethan James Green. Against a candy-coloured backdrop, the campaign captures the youthful energy that defined Y2K, while still looking sternly at the future.

The infusion of pop colours and new shapes reflects Louis Vuitton's commitment to staying at the forefront of cultural trends. What really sets the Remix collection apart from other archival capsules is how iconic designs, like the Croissant first introduced in 2002, the Twist, and Capucines are reimagined in denim and Vernis. And it isn’t just bags. The LV Remix collection also features accessories from belts to bucket hats, shoes and shawls.

By reinterpreting their iconic Y2K styles, the maison not only pays homage to its heritage but also taps into the collective nostalgia of consumers who appreciate the timeless elegance and craftsmanship associated with the brand. This strategic approach not only reinforces the brand's legacy but also cultivates a sense of continuity, connecting the past with the present and reinforcing the enduring appeal of Louis Vuitton in the ever-evolving world of luxury fashion.
