Iris van Herpen Features in the Latest Issue of mono.kultur

The new issue mono.kultur #47 has arrived and it features an extensive interview with non-other than Dutch designer and long-time SHOWstudio collaborator, Iris van Herpen! mono.kultur is a Berlin-based independent interview magazine. The publication, although small with a minimalistic layout, is ambitious with its comprehensive content. Each issue provides readers with a singularly long, exclusive interview with one artist from various genres such as music, film, literature, fine arts and fashion. Almost as if a series of tangible documentary films, mono.kultur invites readers to enter the world of some of the most inimitable creative minds of our time.

And who better to dedicate a 21-page interview to, than Iris van Herpen who has been pioneering the intersection of design and technology since launching her eponymous label just over a decade ago? Fascinated by architecture, science and technology Van Herpen has collaborated with experts from each field to create designs that explore the cutting-edge realms of 3D printing, magnetism, and astrophysics. She has even created clothes inspired by the shape of water (see Splash! - a project captured by Nick Knight that saw Van Herpen designing a dress from high speed footage of water in motion).

In this issue of mono.kultur, Van Herpen's in-depth interview is published alongside a myriad of visually captivating images of her work taken over the past decade by world-class photographers including Inez & Vinoodh, Juergen Teller and Ellen von Unwerth. The cover features an image from Lucid, a project on SHOWstudio comprising editorial images and a fashion film both captured by Nick Knight and styled by Amanda Harlech.
