If awards season is your favourite time of year then the end of the 95th Academy Awards ceremony last week must have been bittersweet. As the ultimate display in the symbiotic relationship between fashion and Hollywood, today’s biggest stars made headlines in custom couture. Well, Bally is turning the tables by enlisting none other than Academy Award-winning actor Adrien Brody to design a series of capsule collections for the Swiss brand.
While best known in Hollywood circles for winning the 2003 award for Best Actor in a Leading Film for The Pianist, among fashion circles Brody is a certified style icon. With enviable red carpet and street style, the New York-born actor was even picked by Miuccia Prada as one of the A-list cameos in her star-studded A/W 12 menswear show.
‘As an artist, I am extremely excited to explore a new form of creative expression,’ says Brody. ‘I am honoured to partner with Bally in this special collaboration, allowing me to channel my creative energy in a new way. In my work, I have spent a lifetime on the road, inhabiting new lives in unusual places.’
The capsule collections will feature not only expertly crafted leather shoes and bags — which Bally has become synonymous with — but also ready-to-wear inspired by Brody’s life as an actor and artist. The collection will be created with the support of Bally’s Creative Studio and is said to be rooted in Brody’s artistic sensibility, love for the craft, and passion for travel.
