Miles Lambert
Curator
Born in Manchester, Miles Lambert has been costume curator at Manchester City Galleries since 1985. After a degree at Cambridge, he worked as curator at Castle Howard Costume Galleries. His 30 years at the Gallery of Costume at Platt Hall has enabled him to build a field of expertise in British fashionable dress, principally the 17th and 18th century. His doctorate (2006) and publications on the consumption of clothing reflect this interest.
Whilst at Manchester City Galleries, Lambert has been responsible for a range of exhibitions at Platt Hall, including a series of Designer in Focus temporary shows focussing on such figures as Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Ossie Clark, and Elsa Schiaparelli. He has also created exhibitions at Manchester Art Gallery, including 1950s Cotton Couture in 2014, and Japanese Fashion and Design in the Design Gallery.
