Karen Elson is a singer, songwriter, model and fashion icon. Born in a working class suburb of Manchester in Northern England, Elson was scouted as a model and launched to international fame at age 18 with her debut on the cover of Vogue Italia following a chance introduction to photographer Steven Meisel. For more than 20 years, she has graced catwalks and magazine covers worldwide, serving as inspiration and muse to the most influential designers and photographers of the day. Before she was 20, Elson had been the face of Chanel, Gucci, Valentino and Versace. She has been photographed by international greats such as Peter Lindbergh, Mario Testino, Craig McDean, Karl Lagerfield, Nick Knight, Bruce Weber and Richard Avedon. In 2005, Elson won a British Fashion Award for Best Model.

Elson's first book, a visual memoir entitled The Red Flame chronicling her singular life in fashion, was published in October 2020 with Rizzoli. A lifelong songwriter, her debut album The Ghost Who Walks was released to great acclaim in 2010 and followed by the similarly lauded 2017 full-length Double Roses in 2017 and Radio Redhead in 2020.
