Interview: Olivier Meyrou on Yves Saint Laurent
Documentary director Olivier Meyrou talks to Sarah Kathryn Cleaver about directing the 2019 film Yves Saint Laurent: The Last Collections. Originally screened in 2007 under the title Célébration, the documentary was then suppressed for more than a decade by Pierre Bergé, Saint Laurent's business and previous romantic partner, who features heavily. Filmed in the now-shuttered Yves Saint Laurent couture atelier over a period of three years, the documentary shows the icon of French fashion in the last years of his life, and his close yet fraught relationship with Bergé. The interview took place at BFI London Film Festival 2019.
