Interview: Olivier Meyrou on Yves Saint Laurent

published on 30 October 2019

Documentary director Olivier Meyrou talks to Sarah Kathryn Cleaver about directing the 2019 film Yves Saint Laurent: The Last Collections. Originally screened in 2007 under the title Célébration, the documentary was then suppressed for more than a decade by Pierre Bergé, Saint Laurent's business and previous romantic partner, who features heavily. Filmed in the now-shuttered Yves Saint Laurent couture atelier over a period of three years, the documentary shows the icon of French fashion in the last years of his life, and his close yet fraught relationship with Bergé.
