2014 at Claire de Rouen Books — Looking back over the year…

In January 2014 we installed this beautiful screen print by Petra Borner in our little shop window. Petra made a set of 12 unique screen prints for us. We still have a small number available - please email lucy@clairederouenbooks.com for purchasing info.

In February we launched ‘Chance Claire’, a project with Tyrone Lebon, for which he chose five books especially for Claire de Rouen…and lent us his copy of Punk Picasso, too.

A 24 hour clock produced by artist Tauba Auerbach for The Thing Quarterly was installed…

In spring, POP magazine made a special limited edition cover featuring the work of Carole Schneeman, exclusively for Claire de Rouen.

In March, we published the first Claire de Rouen Books publication - a text by Lily Cole about Mexican artist Gabriel Orozco and new conceptions of utopia. We made 500 signed copies and still have a few mreaining - for purchasing info please email lucy@clairederouenbooks.com

Curator Chris Darke presented a talk on Chris Marker’s series of travel guides, Petite Planete, in June 2014, as part of our events programme.

Also in June, the first Room&Book Art Book Fair opened at the ICA in London. Curated by Lucy Moore, it gather together 18 of the UK’s best book dealers including Claire de Rouen, Bookmarc, Test Centre and Luminous. Alasdair McClellan, Paul Buck, Lily Cole and Gareth McConnell all came to do book signings, and Tauba Auerbach gave a special artist talk, as part of the fair events programme.

The first Claire de Rouen sale conducted with FaceTime begins, at the CDR stand at Room&Book Art Book Fair.

In September, we launched the new book from Joanna Piotrowska, ‘Frowst’, published by MACK.

As the nights drew in, the knits came out. Lily Cole and Katherine Poulton came to Claire de Rouen to launch their new book A Good Yarn, which shares the secrets of their knitwear company The North Circular.

The Autumn also saw the launch of a new Claire de Rouen Pop-Up at Topshop Boutique! Books and magazines were taken on an adventure from a tiny little shop into the world’s biggest fashion store…

In November I visited the most beautiful bookshop I’ve ever seen, in a church in Maastrict…

The DIY bar for Mark Borthwick’s signing was set up early on in the day on 19th November. Never too early for prosecco.

This December we have an incredibly special limited edition portfolio of prints by Lord Snowdon on sale at the bookshop. One of only six copies, it’s the most elegant and exclusive of Christmas presents.
