“Nude Model (Male)” - Andy Warhol (1977)
“Three Figures in a Room” - Francis Bacon (1964)

“Court Dress” (1750) “IN THE PAST THERE HAVE BEEN MOMENTS OF ALMOST GROTESQUE PHYSICAL DISTORTION IN THE NAME OF SEDUCTION — PANNIERS, BUSTLES… IT’S BEEN A WHILE SINCE THIS KIND OF DELIBERATELY SLY EXAGGERATION WAS EMBRACED.” - Rick Owens
“Direction” - Giovanni Anselmo (1967-8) Anselmo was also a proponent of the “Arte Povera” movement, which referred less to the cost of the art and more to the wide range of uncommon and everyday materials used within their pieces.
“Untitled” - Jannis Kounellis (1969) Kounellis was a key component of the “Arte Povera” (Poor Art) movement. Owens referred to the movement in his press release, drawing comparisons between the installations and his own “raw” clothing.
“Sisyphus” - Franz Von Stuck (1920)
Depiction of Sisyphus in “Meditationes emblematicae de restaurata pace Germaniae” - Johann Vogel (1649)
“Sisyphus” - Titan (1548)
