Video: The System Isn’t Broken. It Was Built This Way.

by Afua Hirsch on 9 June 2020

In a piece to camera, writer and broadcaster Afua Hirsch speaks about how modern Britain was built on hundreds of years of oppression in the form of the British Empire.

She speaks of the disproportionate effects of COVID-19 on BAME people, and the death of George Floyd at the hands of the police in America and notices how, in this moment, people are protesting the broken system that disregards black lives, creates unliveable living standards, and imprisons black people disproportionately. The system isn't broken. It was built this way.
