'I chose this McQueen outfit as I resonated with Burton's approach on the A/W 20 collection. She used the colour red as a highlight, 'a colour signifying protection, healing, and power,' which I think are important words in our self-isolated state at present. They recycled wool in this collection and, in parallel, I recycled an old sketch which I covered in tape to create layers and drew on top, wearing look 17 with accents of red. I tried to create a dreamy feel utilising colour pencil, gouache and created depth with masking tape. I felt somewhat drawn to this outfit, simple as it is with its high neck and wool material. It seemed comforting and something I can sink into and fall asleep feeling safe or wear as a warm armour to feel fearless in this time of strange happenings. As Burton put it, 'I wanted this collection to be really grounded, bold, and heroic,' she answered herself. 'I feel like you need to be heroic.'
