Using their bodies to create live human sculptures, the designer Michaela Stark and her sitters, the models Dodo Potato and Jade O'Belle, worked with Nick Knight in the SHOWstudio space in London to create a series of poses whilst wearing Stark's custom-made corsets and garments which are intended to contort and glorify the female form.
They were then 3D scanned before their digitised bodies were organised by Knight into a composition to be 3D printed by the art conservation studio Factum Arte in Madrid. The resulting free-standing frieze makes a clear visual play on the compositions of nude women seen throughout art history, presenting a powerful meditation on the conventions of beauty today, and is considered by Knight as a study for a future work rendered in alabaster, explored through an accompanying bust of Stark taken from the composition.
