Fashion Film: Puberty

Filmed through a hedonistic and explorative lens, Puberty follows a teenager's journey through adolescence, adopting experimental techniques with make-up and drag to discover their true self. The short film is accompanied by the protagonist's monologue, narrating throughout like an echo. 

'I'm looking for a way to create that is both rational and sustainable. And at this stage, drag is a perfect tool to express what I want' the voice hums, before being interspersed with emotional and trance-like dance scenes where the character is voguing and - if only for a moment - unwelcomed and invasive thoughts are entirely forgotten. The film ends in a drag performance, encouraging the idea of acceptance 'for all genders, age and identities.’
