- How would you describe what you do?
Lunathi Mngxuma: I would describe it has a therapeutic process, as I long for healing, as an interrogative journey as I seek answers.
- What's your background?
LM: I come from a visual art background, then as time went by I was introduced to photography which has been the medium I utilised the most to convey my work.
- What inspires you?
LM: African Jazz music its what inspires me and a Polish painter Zdzisław Beksiński.
- What is the ambition behind your practice?
LM: Behind the practice the ambition is trying to discover a way of healing to the sicknesses of the world, as my works basically evolve around the concept of death as a prison of one's emotion.
What did you hope to convey with your Bodies Of Knowledge film?
LM: Growing up as a kid I suffered a lot from toothache which made my life for that moment of pain miserable. My message with the film was let us take care of our teeth, as the saying goes, we are what we eat and we don't want to dig our graves by our teeth just because of negligence to what we consume.
