“This was Alexander McQueen’s first campaign [shot by Steven Meisel] when he started working for Givenchy. I had modelled for Lee in London for a few years by then, and when he got the job at Givenchy the house was keen to differentiate between the two labels, but I was one of the few lucky models that was able to work for both. McQueen’s clothes make you feel strong and sexy, their cut, the draping, the inventiveness. It was a joy being trusted by him to bring some of his bigger pieces to life (like when he asked me to ‘freak out’ wearing the birds) but equally wearing a fantastic suit like this makes you feel ready to take on whatever the day brings.”
