It’s been exactly a year since Russia invaded Ukraine. In that time, tens of thousands of lives have been lost and even more displaced from their homes. In response the global creative community have come together to come up with innovative ways to show their support of the war-torn nation. The latest is a collaboration with Ukrainian-born, LA-based fashion house Lever Couture, creative director Jenny Williams, art director Ricci Williams, OWOW Agency and Marketing Agency Chest of Wonders, dubbed A Love Letter to Ukraine.
The immersive project is utilising the World Wide Web to get people from every corner of the globe to upload their own love letters to Ukraine. Once uploaded, they’ll be printed on small squares of fabric which will be used to craft a couture dress. The more letters that are submitted the grander the garment will become. It will also serve as a symbol of the love and unity the international community has for Ukraine.
The dress is set to be auctioned off to raise money for humanitarian efforts for the people of Ukraine. The entire proceeds will be donated to the Zelenska Foundation. Launched by Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska, the foundation raises money to benefit everyone affected by Russia’s invasion. Cosigning the project are a cohort of A-listers including Milla Jovovich, Nicola Formichetti, and actress Vera Farmiga.
