The near-12 month wait for the Yeezy x Gap collaboration is finally over as we're teased with a sneak peek of a blue puffer jacket, photographed by Nick Knight.

Donning a plain, sky blue puffer jacket earlier this week was the one and only American rapper, Kanye West. Fans squealed with excitement. Was the jacket alluding to a new project the icon had been working on? His collaboration with Gap, maybe? Although the Yeezy x Gap partnership was announced just under a year ago, leaked images and documents surfaced earlier this year, making it relatively easy for fans to cobble together the pieces and paint a picture of the upcoming collaboration. Alas, the torturous wait is over, and yes, that exact blue jacket is part of the drop - the first piece unveiled from one of fashion's hottest partnerships (trust us, there's been a few recently).

A snapshot of the jacket, photographed by Nick Knight, was released on Gap's Instagram this morning. Staying true to the sensibilities that make up West's clothing brand Yeezy, the garment has simple detailing, block colour, little to no visible pockets or fastenings, and is, of course, slightly oversized. It's also made from recycled nylon, making it environmentally conscious for a generation that cares passionately about sustainable ethics in fashion. Finishing touches are added with the official Yeezy x Gap logo at the neck, establishing an understated coolness and simplicity of design.

In addition to the drop, both Gap and Yeezy have also worked on a series of 'floating projections of the Yeezy Gap Round Jacket' in cities across the US, including New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago. The concept of a 'floating projection' may be new to Gap but it certainly isn't to West. The artist debuted his New Slaves album back in 2013 by projecting his face onto buildings around the world. Some say he's a narcissist. Others? He's a genius.

It comes as no surprise that West was spotted in the cerulean blue puffer as the rapper's wardrobe often consists of his own designs - clean, simple, and modern. The simplicity that so often goes hand in hand with West's designs is still very much there, evidently running through the heart of the collaboration. One thing for sure is that Yeezy is known for its nude undertones... if this Gap x Yeezy cerulean blue puffer is anything to go by, we expect a little more pop of colour but other than that, we'll keep our mouths zipped.

Priced at an affordable $200, the collaborative item can be pre-ordered for US buyers only here, with shipping to start this coming autumn.
