Wauzine’s Latest Issue Celebrates Storytelling
When it comes to supporting emerging talents is anyone doing it like Fashion Scout? The award-winning independent platform has been nurturing new names with showcases in London and Paris. Still, they’re going above and beyond with their digital magazine Wauzine which puts the spotlight on the talents part of Creative DNA: Kenya 4.0. The six-month business incubator programme supported by the British Council has seen 71 designers across ready-to-wear, footwear and accessories complete the programme, with the latest batch showcased in Wauzine's fifth issue.
The innovative initiative commissioned creative director Sunny Dolat to explore the theme of storytelling. The issue is adorned with powerful imagery that speaks volumes, featuring nostalgic references, bold colours, and cinematic allure, reaffirming storytelling as a potent medium for artistic expression. The theme is best explored in a compelling article by Wanjeri Gakuru who explains storytelling as a 'guide to confront our own discomforts'.
As Creative DNA: Kenya 4.0 continues to uplift and amplify promising designer businesses, this impactful program presents a fresh creative and cultural exploration that evokes senses, passions, and thoughts, celebrating the profound influence of stories.
