Versace Celebrates The Pleasures of Pride Month
When your summer playlist instinctively runs through ‘Levitating’ (Blessed Madonna Remix), ‘Rude Boy,’ ‘Slow’ (Chemical Brothers Remix), ‘Alejandro’ and ‘Mess of Me,’ either leg day is giving, or it might be Pride Month. The Versace Pride collection arrives just in time to accentuate those bop-tarts with a selection of ready-to-wear, accessories and jewellery designed to divert the eyes of desire from any pride float to your direction. They may steal your heart for a night (it’s Pride diva), but they best not borrow those Medusa rainbow earrings (it’s fashion diva).
In celebration of every LGBTQIA+ community, Versace combines limited edition pieces with the pride flag to wrap Barocco printed silk and Versace logo necklaces in rainbow. This collection befits the history of Versace as a cultural bellwether for Pride. Gianni Versace was the first designer to celebrate the subtext of George Michael’s ‘Freedom 90’ through the supermodel power of fashion for A/W 91.
That same year he sponsored an AIDS benefit fashion show in Los Angeles by funding expenses, by enlisting Crawford, Turlington and Campbell to walk. This year’s Versace Pride capsule collects new stories alongside its powerful history that promotes advocacy inherent to achieving equality.
Versace continues pushing positivity forward by donating 10% of your purchases to the Elton John AIDS Foundation through January 2025.
