What do Salvatore Ferragamo and Quinten Tarantino have in common? If it wasn’t obvious, it’s an obsession with feet. At a recent visit to the Ferragamo Museum in Florence, the exhibition took visitors on a journey of the master cobbler’s career with one room dedicated to the various moulds of celebrities' feet he worked with. From Marilyn Monroe to Katherine Hepburn, hanging from ceilings and stacked on tables were the silhouettes of every It-girl that dominated the Golden Age of Hollywood.
But what are the fashion-forward feet of today? The age of the sneakerhead might have peaked at the beginning of the 2020s when then newly appointed creative director of Dior Men’s Kim Jones released the ultimate high-fashion Air Jordan 1s, but that doesn’t mean today’s footwear experts from around the world aren’t continuing to craft innovative soles that are sure to make a shoe-fetishist of us all.
Givenchy NFNTY-52
As part of maison’s A/W 24 collection, Givenchy introduced the NFNTY-52 runner. The first luxury men's trainer to incorporate Pebax, a high-performance, eco-friendly material. Known for optimizing running times with superior rebound and comfort, the Pebax foam midsole is stamped with an infinity symbol inspired by early 2000s runners. Of course, for some sleek flourish, it's stamped with a dynamic variation of instantly recognisable Givenchy codes like a newly revamped 4G logo on webbing with branded lettering in technical tape. Available in all-black, black/white/silver, and gold/white, discover the details that make up the NFNTY-52 here.
Off-White™ ‘Be Right Back’
When it comes to influential streetwear pioneers, the late Virgil Abloh should spring to the front of everyone’s mind. Keeping the visionaries legacy alive, Off-White™’s latest in footwear, the ‘Be Right Back’ or BRB, is the sequel to Abloh’s cult favourite ‘Out of Office’ trainers. Looking to society’s obsession with wellness, the trainer blends 90s performance silhouettes with Off-White™ elements such as mesh, rubberised leather, Bookish typography, a zip tie, and an updated Arrow logo. So, go ahead and BRB because you’re going to want to get a closer look here.
Hed Mayner and Reebok LTD
It feels like only yesterday when Hed Mayner presented his first collaboration with Reebok LTD as part of his A/W 23 collection. Over a year later, Mayner is upping with ante with his S/S 25 collection featuring a brand new pair of Reeboks. The collection, which was defined by vibrant hues and voluminous tracksuits, was accented by a reimagining of Reebok’s iconic Blacktop trainers. This hybrid design merges cross-training functionality with basketball aesthetics, offering a modern edge. Let’s just say we can’t wait to get our hands on a pair.
Louis Gabriel Nouchi Meets Puma
As one of Paris’ hottest menswear designers, it was only a matter of time before Louis Gabriel Nouchi would team up with one of the world’s premier sportswear brands on a collaboration. No stranger to fitness himself (his collections have long looked to athletic wear for inspiration) fans of the brand were eagerly anticipating what the LGN trainer could look like. Well, questions were quelled with the designer’s S/S 25 collection which unveiled the Mostro Mule. Crafted from a single piece of EVA foam in black and bone white, the minimalist mule features radical studs adorning the sleek silhouette. Don’t miss out on the pre-order here.
