With an ambition to drive responsible luxury forward, Fashion Open Studio (the brainchild of Fashion Revolution, led by Orsola de Castro and Tamsin Blanchard) has collaborated with the 36th edition of Festival d’Hyéres to create the Mercedes-Benz Sustainability Prize – the first of its kind at the esteemed creative festival. The jury – comprising of artist William Farr, poet Sonny Hall, stylist Ib Kamara and more – selected Finnish fashion designer Sofia Ilmonen as the winner. She will receive a €20,000 grant from Mercedes-Benz.

'Sofia Ilmonen was a unanimous winner for the Mercedes-Benz Sustainability prize,' said the jury in a statement. 'Her work utilises sustainably sourced fabrics, often using vegetable dyes to create rich intense colour. Her concept using square formations minimizes fabric waste and her approach to design reduces the need for sizing and allows garments to transform.'
