Following up on the success of the much-loved London designer's first collaboration with Royal Salute, Richard Quinn proves his eye for pattern and colour stretches well beyond fashion limits.
What happens when two masters in their respective fields come together in a display of refinement, elegance and savoir-faire? There's only one answer, and if you guessed a second edition of the Royal Salute 21-Year-Old Richard Quinn Whisky collaboration, you're right on the ball.
Marrying cutting-edge creativity with luxury Scotch whisky, the much-loved London designer designed a whisky bottle complete with its own custom packaging so compelling last year that Royal Salute have tapped Quinn on the shoulder for a second go this winter.
The details of their latest partnership catapult the whisky collection to new heights. With the help of Royal Salute master blender Sandy Hyslop, the unique blend by Quinn and Royal Salute was co-crafted in Strathisla Distillery in Speyside, Scotland, where only the most precious Royal Salute whiskies are safeguarded, making the blend standout even by Royal Salute standards.
In a press statement, Quinn expressed, 'Spending time with him [Sandy Hyslop] at Strathisla Distillery was a standout highlight for me and the creative journey we've been on together has been incredible. We both brought a really clear vision to the table, and seeing these collide, merge and build into the finished edition was a thrill to be a part of. Extending the collaboration with Royal Salute was a no-brainer for me. I love the idea that our collaborative effort will find its way into the hands of appreciators of craft across the world.'
As for the trio of designs Quinn has contributed, all three borrow from the designer's own appreciation for flora and fauna. Tapping into his own signature style, which famously collides even the brightest of patterns, Quinn fans would recognise some Royal Salute prints as they've appeared in previous Richard Quinn collections. Rose petals and white polka dots on a black backdrop can be counted as one design, while another features a white daisy against a forest green background. The third and final floral design is available exclusively in Global Travel Retail and uses vibrant purple, yellow and green shades against a pristine white background; all colours Richard Quinn fans are accustomed to seeing in the designer's own collections.
As for why Quinn has extended his Royal Salute partnership, the designer candidly noted that he 'gets inspired and motivated by someone who has something new to say, who brings a new perspective, or pushes boundaries to create something new'; a manifesto exclusive to Royal Salute's endless creativity in partnering with one of London's standout designers. We can only hope the collaboration carries on beyond this Christmas.
