Prada is Bringing Back The Art of Conversation
In our increasingly digital world, the value of physical human interactions is often second fiddle to the screens that dictate our lives. While access to the world conveniently rests in the palms of our hands, the intimacy from face-to-face connections and the tangible experiences of the physical world is irreplaceable. Looking to rekindle these intimate moments is Prada with their A/W 24 campaign, ‘Now That We’re Here’ which celebrates the moments where fashion becomes a conduit for human connection.
Shot by longtime collaborator of the brand Willy Vanderperre, the master image-maker brings together an intimate cast of actors to bring to life the stolen moments that capture the essence of human connection and the tactile beauty of Prada's latest collection. Prada Ambassadors Harris Dickinson, Damson Idris, Yili Ma, Hunter Schafer and Letitia Wright interact in a factious narrative in person and on the phone from a script by filmmaker and writer Miranda July.
July instigated dialogue between the actors with a set of conversation cards proposing topics. In an exploration of the art of conversation, the fashion film shot by Oscar-nominated documentary director Garret Bradley highlights the nuanced expressions and subtle gestures that define genuine human interaction. From the serious to the silly, the dialogue featured in the accompanying fashion film engages the audience with quips leaving you yearning for more.
Dialogue has been at the forefront of Prada’s creative output since Raf Simons joined as co-creative director in 2020. Together with Miuccia Prada, the duo have redefined the brand's narrative, seamlessly blending intellectual discourse with cutting-edge fashion and a flair for cinema. Their latest collection — which we broke down in our S/S 25 menswear round-up — showcases the tension and harmony in a showcase of craftsmanship and thought-provoking reflections on meaningful storytelling.
