Every year menswear enthusiasts worldwide flock to Florence’s Fortezza da Basso for the latest in men’s fashion. Still, it isn’t all Trilby hats and derbies. This year, the eighth edition of the Pitti Discovery Foundation’s S|Style project, tasked 10 designers from around the world to showcase a one-of-a-kind collection based on the theme ‘circular luxury’.

Curated by journalist Giorgia Cantarini, the showcase was crafted using materials supplied by Kering Material Innovation Lab. Established in 2013, Kering Group’s internal research facility has spent the last decade pioneering sustainable initiatives and innovative low-impact production methods. This year, the designers had access to a range of fabrics from denim, jersey, canvas, and twill, as well as pre and post-consumer textiles for a collection that is truly circular.

‘The project brings together a collaborative group of designers, training them to work with innovative materials, with a focus on creativity guided by Kering's Sustainability Standards,’ explains Cantarini. ‘Kering's expertise and the business world at Pitti Uomo team up in a system for the future of fashion. S|STYLE is the most tangible experience that an emerging designer could wish for.'
