For the Iranian designer Paria Farzaneh, their headphones are an extension of their body; essential throughout the design process for their namesake brand, making phone calls to their team or playing their favourite music as they flesh out a new collection. So, they've teamed up with the music heavyweight Beats to create a special edition set of the Powerbeats Pro.
Farzaneh, who has rejected the circus on fashion week and instead hosted intimate presentations of her recent A/W 22 collection in a house on the outskirts of Paris, sees the only fashion industry worth participating in, as one which makes the world better. Our reliance on technology is on one hand all consuming and a distraction from life, but it can also enhance our creativity for the greater good. This is at the core of Farzaneh's design process, releasing small, wearable collections made consciously.
The paria/FARZANEH Parallel Universe Beats draw on Farzaneh's Iranian heritage, as fashion collections such as A/W 18 have done before, through print. The traditional Ghalamkar print typically found on table clothes has been digitised, and pixelates in deep plum and yuzu yellow colours. Unveiled in a campaign created in collaboration with the artists Russell Maurice and Louis Morlæ, a humanoid-like form sits centre stage wearing the headphones. 'Whether worn as a fashionable accessory or used as a piece of technology to transport yourself into another world, this collaboration between paria /FARZANEH and Beats guarantees authenticity from start to finish', the brand said in a statement.
