With the fashion industry constantly playing a game of musical chairs with its creative directors, celebrating 10 years at a brand is nothing to scoff at. Last year the incomparable Nicolas Ghesquière did just that with his anniversary as Louis Vuitton’s artistic director of womenswear. In the decade since he joined, not only has the designer propelled the heritage house in an innovative direction, but his perchance for the digital has seen Louis Vuitton’s first foray into the metaverse.
In the maison’s latest digital venture, Ghesquière is starting his own YouTube series. ‘Nicholas Ghesquière: Shaping Fashion’ will see the designer joined by some of the brand’s biggest collaborators to discuss the designer's illustrious career. Brand ambassadors Emma Stone and Jennifer Connelly sit down with Ghesquière in the series' debut episodes to break down some of his most influential moments and his creative process.
'This series was something completely new for me,' he states in today's press release. 'It was very enjoyable to take the time to look back, reflect and smile on how these past ten years have flown by and it is a journey that has been shaped by the wonderful friends in each episode!'
Directed by journalists Lynn Hirschberg and Sylvia Jorif, the series promises to capture the spirit and stories of the artistic director. The discussions are set to inform and delight viewers on this exclusive trip down memory lane, providing an intimate perspective on Ghesquière's experiences and inspirations.
