Nick Knight Shoots Tom Ford Black Orchid Parfum Campaign
Nick Knight has photographed the campaign for Tom Ford's Black Orchid Parfum fragrance. In the first teasers for the campaign released on the Tom Ford Beauty Instagram page, the golden perfume bottle is splashed with liquid, with close up shots running languidly over a female model Shayna McNeill's face and male model Stanley Taylor's bare chest in a dark, moody and intense concept.
The campaign has rounded up some of Tom Ford's regular and most famous contributors: Knight has worked with the Texan designer before, shooting Mica Arganaraz for Black Orchid's 2016 imagery. Perhaps most famously, Knight directed Tom Ford's collection video for S/S 16, called Soul Train, where Lady Gaga and a host of models including Lucky Blue Smith boogie on down to a Gaga cover of I Want Your Love by disco band Chic.
Carine Roitfeld, former editor of Vogue Paris, has also come on board once more for the styling. Roitfeld and Tom Ford have a long working relationship, dating back to the nineties when Ford was creative director of Gucci. The pair were the creative forces behind one of the most audacious advertising photographs in fashion history, where Carmen Kass had a Gucci 'G' shaved into her pubic hair for the Gucci S/S 03 campaign.
Black Orchid Parfum is an update on the original Black Orchid scent that was released to high acclaim back in 2006 - Parfum has added notes of ylang-ylang and rum.
