Nick Knight photographs HRH Prince Charles and Sir Jony Ive for Wallpaper*

In March 2022, SHOWstudio founder and long-time contributor of Wallpaper* magazine Nick Knight shot a portrait of the Prince of Wales and design legend Jony Ive for the magazine's August issue. The 'Design for a Better World' issue will be the first time in 26 years that the publication will feature a portrait on its cover. The cover stars — who took a break from their responsibilities as the future king of England and being one of the greatest design minds of our time — are the co-founders of Terra Carta Design Lab, which celebrates young designers developing high-impact, low-cost solutions to the climate crisis. While best known for his many innovations while Chief Design Officer of Apple, Ive has since started his design firm, LoveFrom, and been appointed chancellor of the Royal College of Art which is a partner of Terra Carta.

Having worked with both the Prince of Wales and Ive in the past, Knight was the perfect choice to capture the partnership as the duo continues to develop their environmental sustainability initiative. In 2021 Knight filmed Ive's virtual address to the California College of the Art's graduating class. The design behemoth was the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate Degree, and used his speech to encourage students across art, design, architecture and writing to believe in the power of design as a way to change the world. Back in 2016, Knight had the honour of shooting Her Majesty The Queen and The Prince of Wales in an intimate portrait celebrating the monarch's 90th birthday.
