Mugler’s Past And Present Come Together With H&M Collab
H&M’s designer collaborations are the stuff of high-street legend. Always a mammoth event, previous partnerships with Karl Lagerfeld, Versace, Balmain and most recently Simone Rocha have led to website crashing and crazy queues as customers hunt for designer garments at a fraction of the price. Now, Casey Cadwallader stans around the world can rejoice because this year, the house of Mugler is joining H&M's legendary designer roster.
'It is truly an honor to collaborate with H&M. The collection is a celebration of everything that defines Mugler as a house and each piece is authentic Mugler, from the bodysuits, which have become a signature of ours, to the sharp tailoring and worked denims. It is a showcase of our icons,' says Cadwallader.
As one of today's hottest brands, the creative director has more than tapped into the zeitgeist with his sleek interpretation of the iconic Parisian house's codes. Cadwallader's signature bodysuits, denim and razor-sharp tailoring is ever present in the Mugler H&M music video that was released today. Starring his go-to crew, including Eartheater, Shygirl, Amaarae and Arca, the fashion film showcases the collections selection of womenswear, menswear and accessories.
Of course, the big surprise in today's announcement has to be the cameos from OG Mugler muses Jerry Hall and Connie Fleming. Paying homage to the brand's founder (and pilfering through its insane archive), the collaboration will also include a selection of reissued designs. 'We are proud to celebrate the legacy of Manfred Thierry Mugler with this collection,' says H&M creative advisor Ann-Sofie Johansson. 'We were all honoured to get to know Manfred, and it feels very special that he was involved at the initial stages together with Casey and the house of Mugler.'
Mugler H&M will be released 11 May.
