MM6 Maison Margiela Deconstructs Streetwear With Supreme

After months of anticipation, today Supreme have unveiled a collaboration with MM6 Maison Margiela. Established in 1997 as a complement to Maison Margiela's boundary-pushing creations, MM6 has since evolved into a brand that celebrates everyday wear with a twist. Inspired by founder Martin Margiela’s deconstructed design ethos and Supreme’s signature streetwear, the collection is an elevated reimagining of both brand’s distinct visions.

Subverting the mundane the line challenges conventions by deconstructing everyday essentials using innovative tailoring techniques and recycled materials. For their collaboration with Supreme MM6 is staying true to the ethos of their founder by putting twists on sartorial staples like hoodies, vests, cargo trousers and shorts. Margiela signatures abound in the form of quilted button-ups, and silk-lined waistcoats.

The standout pieces in the collection include a faux fur coat of various patches as if repurposed from a pile of vintage finds. Similarly, there is a Frankensteined variety jacket comprised of panels of different jackets, showcasing the versatility of the streetwear giant’s logo. While the garms are sure to enthral fans of either brand, for the serious collections it's the accessories like a bi-fold wallet printed with the markings of Supreme NY receipt, or the stark white bike lock that’s sure to be a must-have.

As MM6 Maison Margiela reaffirms its position as a touchstone for boundary-pushing anti-fashion, its collaboration with Supreme shows they aren’t afraid to venture into the world of streetwear.
