The end of November doesn't just signal us being one step closer to Christmas, it also marks our one-off collaborative performance with Michaela Stark who will be closing our SHADOW-BAN exhibition.

Over the past month our SHADOW-BAN exhibition has been opened to the public, one question has resonated more than most with many of you asking: 'So, what is SHADOW-BAN actually about?' In short, this daringly explicit exhibition is SHOWstudio's way of holding up our middle finger to the insidious nature of censorship pervading many online social media platforms today - the same platforms that were once celebrated for their acceptance in boosting artists from the ground up.

Nothing to be sniffed at, censorship is one of the many challenges facing today's cohort of artists, designers and creatives alike - and that's only taking into account the 'horny bots trained to look for nipples' (as SHADOW-BAN artist Emma Stern, AKA @lavababy expertly put it when we interviewed her earlier this year). Of course, despite the bots, there are many other ways one can be censored, just ask rebel couturier and SHOWstudio friend Michaela Stark who doesn't just have to stay wary of fake accounts but real ones too (you only have to look at the vile degrading comments left on Victoria's Secret Instagram after her collection for the brand to know what we mean), which made her the perfect collaborative partner for SHADOW-BAN's closing event.

For three hours on Sunday 24 November, Stark will be suspended from SHOWstudio's ceiling by mounds of tulle in an attempt to mimic a SHOWstudio-style, fashion-inspired abattoir, all the while pushing herself further than she ever has before. Presenting as an even more ambitious take on her hauntingly beautiful Tate Modern performance which recently closed the institution's Sargent and Fashion exhibition, this is a show in its own right and certainly not one to miss, not least because of Stark's mind-boggling endurance qualities but also because of the sheer beauty and talent that exists at the core of her practice.

Titled SUSPENEDED, with music by CHILD + THE BANNED, the performance will be ticketed and separated into different time slots throughout the day. To buy a ticket, click here.
