London College of Fashion Turn To Film This Fashion Week
As fashion week kicks off in the capital, the renowned London College of Fashion are doing things a little differently, presenting a dynamic programme of immersive and interactive events. Whilst brands on the schedule including Burberry, Fashion East and Simone Rocha stick to the tried-and-tested format of a runway show, LCF's postgraduates have leant into the medium of fashion film to tell their stories this season. SHOWstudio proudly premieres the trailer for the MA Fashion, Film and Digital Production Class of 2024 students.
The schools involved 'continue to redefine the genre of fashion film through their showcase exploring themes of cultural sustainability, queer identities, sustainable fashion and contemporary feminism in a global context, tackling Gen-Z's lack of empathy through satirical narratives, deep love, individualism and tap dancing', says Bex Cassie, Creative Director for the School of Media and Communication at the London College of Fashion.
Taking place at London College of fashion's new home in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park at East Bank, this month's postgraduate exhibition questions traditional formats of presenting fashion, showing the dynamic potentials for fashion film. After-all, innovation should come from education.
A London Fashion Week showroom houses the MA Menswear and Womenswear collections, the latter of which will be modelled in the space at the request of guests who can speak directly with the designers on opening night. The menswear graduates will also have some looks on display, as well as a dedicated fashion film.
The LCF Postgraduate 2024 exhibition will be open to the public 12 February – 9 March in LCF’s new home at East Bank. See the upcoming events here:
