If you're an aspiring fashion illustrator then listen up, there's only one university for you: London College of Fashion. Home to the country's only fashion illustration course - taught as part of the college's wider school of Media and Communication - the institution has long prided itself on recognising the changing role of visual communication within fashion, encouraging and nurturing the next generation of fashion illustrators and communicators to make their indelible mark on an industry that rests for no one.
Similar approaches and levels of care are also adopted for two of the university's other schools, Fashion Business and Design and Technology, with regular collaborations taking place across all three groups thanks to each degree course being taught under the same roof (a first in UAL’s 118-year history).
Paying homage to this all-encompassing fashion ecosystem as well as the 500 undergraduate students involved, the three LCF schools will come together on Wednesday 17 July to celebrate and showcase the creative talent of tomorrow in a landmark exhibition held at East Bank on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Speaking about the event, creative director of the School of Media and Communication Bex Cassie said in a statement: 'I am thrilled to present a curated selection of innovative and visionary work from the graduating cohort of this year’s School of Media and Communication students. This diverse and dynamic group of emerging creatives have pushed the boundaries of fashion media, communication, and performance, reflecting a deep engagement with contemporary issues and future trends. Each student has challenged and harnessed their creative identity and agency, to create a showcase that is as varied as it is inspiring, laying a blueprint for creativity and critical thinking for the next generation of fashion communicators.'
From garments and accessories to businesses and technologies, nothing is off limits in this grand showcase - something that pro vice-chancellor Andrew Teverson is all too keen to recognise, evidenced by his statement to press that commented on the uniting force behind the exhibition being an 'unstoppable drive to create a future for our industry that is diverse and responsive to a rapidly changing world... everything you encounter defines the future of fashion.'
Whether you dream of spearheading the change or just fancy being a part of it all, make sure you visit the exhibition in Stratford on until Wednesday 24 July (10:00 - 17:00 BST) to immerse yourself in the future of the fashion industry. For more information, click here.
