It’s officially impossible not to keep up with the Kardashians, especially sister Kim. From her humble beginnings as a reality TV star from Calabasas to shape wear entrepreneur turned billionaire, the pop culture tour de force is inescapable. With over 300 million Instagram followers Kardashian’s star power also makes her a favourite among fashion’s elite. One such super fan is New York legend Marc Jacobs who has enlisted Kim to be the face of his A/W 23 global campaign.
Shot by photographer Tyrone Lebon and styled by Jacobs’ longtime friend and creative collaborator Alastair McKimm, the monochromatic campaign see’s Kardashian in macabre funhouse. With a backdrop of balloons and other miscellaneous inflatables, the imagery is equal parts playful and kinky; a possible not to the terrifying shenanigans Kardashian is sure to get up to in the upcoming series of American Horror Story premiering later this year.
As for the collection, Kardashian plays the part in oversized silhouettes. While absent of colour, the garments feature playful polkadots and voluminous sleeves and collars reminiscent of a couture clown. Still, for any Marc Jacobs superfan it’s the covetable it-accessories in the making that are sure to steal the show. While the classic Tote bag is already a fan favourite, the newly introduced Sack and Curve bag are sure to become instant classics know that Kardashian is endorsing them. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Marc Jacobs campaign without featuring those iconic Kiki boots.
