After many collaborations, Asics and Kiko Kostadinov join forces one last time to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the brand's classic Gel-Lyte lll model.
Fusing the best design elements between the Gel-Lyte III model and the GlideRide model, Kiko Kostadinov has once again joined forces with Asics to collaborate on a special edition of the hybrid model, creating the new Gel-GlideLyte III.
This time, the collaboration was inspired by a visit to the Asics archive by Kiko Kostadinov and his team in Kobe, Japan. The Gel-GlideLyte III silhouette pays tribute to the GlideRide model by using the same curved sole design, attributed with a smoother, more comfortable running experience. This detail has been combined with the Gel-Lyte III trademark split tongue and asymmetric toe window, appearing on the upper part of the new model design.
Looking to other signature design elements that Asics have used in the past, the new design also takes inspiration from the Gel-Nimbus 5 by including a PU section on the heel and an overlaying mesh feature taken from the Gel-Hockey Typhoon 2 model.
Designed by Laura and Deanna Fanning, the Gel-GlideLyte III is available to buy now online (and eventually in retail stores when they re-open) in two colourways, Asphalt/High Rise and Red Bud/Fire Brick, released in both men and women's collections.
