Accessories brand KARA have teamed up with fashion photographer Olgaç Bozalp - who presents a hybrid perspective of the Eastern and Western worlds - to capture their latest summer collection.
Inspired by a concept focused on storytelling, highlighting community and individual human experience, KARA invited Bozalp to take the viewer on an intimate road trip through his native Turkey, using his father, Huseyin Bozalp, as his primary subject and model for the collection.
The photographs - refusing to fit into the current mould that dominates many fashion campaigns and editorials - fittingly reflect KARA's brand identity that founder Sarah Law has spent years trying to build. In the words of Law, 'KARA is an enthusiastic celebration of being many things - not fitting into a specific mould', which replicates the inclusivity of Bozalp's arresting images. Wanting self-expression to always be at the heart of her brand, Law has made sure to consistently invite individuals from around the world to document themselves with KARA pieces in a way that best showcases their own form of expression, rather than adapting to the notion of a particular brand identity, through this unique way of working, KARA's identity is shaped by the people who wear KARA accessories.
The collection itself is about renewal, focusing on the intricate details that make each piece unique in their own right. Recognising the importance of hand-made objects, the collection includes the 'Cobra' chain-leather covered cord, braided by hand into an oversized crossbody chain, as well as updated styles such as the Bike Wallet, Camera Bag and Gym Kit - with straps made with Crystal Fringe hand-sewn onto leather.
Bozalp's work is intimate yet striking. Not considered your regular 'fashion photography' his work highlights all forms of self expression in the same way that the KARAyouBEyou series does which, 'highlights creative and unique forms of individual expression, celebrating the multifaceted individual and community.'
