With millions of die-hard fans around the world K-pop star Taeyang has long been ripe to be plucked as the face of a high-fashion brand. Well, Givenchy beat out the competition back in January when they announced that the Big Band member would be the maison’s global menswear ambassador. After months of bated breath, K-pop and fashion fans alike are finally getting a glimpse at the partnership with the A/W 23 menswear campaign that's been unveiled today.
Appropriately shot in Souel by creative director Matthew M. Williams, the campaign expertly showcases the sleek tailoring that the brand has become synonymous with since Williams’ appointment back in 2020. A mix of monochromatic and coloured portraits, the campaign highlights many of the brand's core pieces along with seasonal fare and line-up of accessories including the new G Tears necklace, rings and Giv-Cut earrings.
‘Taeyang is a friend, and to me, his creativity and personal values make him an ideal ambassador for Givenchy. You can feel his presence: he has this easy, modern elegance and an edge — he clearly feels comfortable in the clothes and really personifies the House’s new aesthetic,’ Williams explains.
