Did you know Japanese brand John Lawrence Sullivan is named after the 20th-century American heavyweight champion? Founder Arashi Yanagawa was a professional boxer himself before establishing his label in 2003. Not shying away from his past profession, the brand is rooted in exploring masculine ideals of strength and perseverance as well as elegance inspired by sparring in the ring. It’s only natural then that the Hiroshima-born designer would team up with Everlast (the world’s leading boxing brand) on a capsule collection that will have you ready for the ring.
Fusing the world of sport and fashion, the lineup of sportswear and accessories is something of a love letter to some of the sport’s greatest athletes. Shirts are stamped with nicknames like Sugar and Hitman, as a nod to Sugar Ray Leonard and Thomas Hearns respectively. Each style features a different front to highlight the unique characteristics of their athlete inspirations.
Putting your gym wardrobe to shame, the collection features joggers and shorts adorned with the iconic Everlast logo. Of course, if you’re something of a professional boxer yourself (or at least an aspiring one), the capsule includes a pair of boxing shorts crafted from sleek vegan leather along with accessories, including boxing gloves, headgear, and a sandbag to get you ready for sparring.
